Our Programs

JVmomsphotoSo many ways to get started

Looking to get involved?  Whether you are interested in donating, volunteering or enrolling your child, Big Brothers Big Sisters offers several types of programs in Northeast Louisiana.

School-Based: Meet for about an hour once a week at the Little’s school during the school year for such activities as sharing lunch, academic encouragement, library time,  doing an art project, playing games, reading or just talking. The pair may also meet occasionally during the summer at BBBS’ sponsored special events. School-based matches require a commitment of at least 12 months.

Community-Based: Meet six-to-eight hours per month for 12-15 months at sites in the community for activities any friends might share, such as attending a sporting event, BBBS sponsored event, shopping, biking or just running errands.

School-Based PLUS: The perfect combination! Meet with your Little at school, do activities in the community and/or attend BBBS events! School-based PLUS matches require four-to-eight hours per month for a minimum of 12-15 months.

High School Bigs Mentoring:High school students in grades 10-12 serve as volunteer mentors to elementary students in grades 3-5. Matches meet twice per month on-site in a structured, safe environment. A BBBS professional case manager monitors each mentoring session to optimize the experience for participating youth.

MOMs-Mentoring of Moms (Ruston): Partnership with Life Choices for young mothers facing adversity and mothers-to-be under age 18. Mentors meet six-to-eight hours per month with their mentees to encourage them to seek adequate prenatal care and support healthy family lifestyles.

Chase Leadership Academy: High School seniors from participating schools are mentored by Chase employees to learn essential life and career skills in a highly interactive learning environment. Students attend sessions at Chase throughout the school year, culminating in a graduation ceremony where each child receives a laptop courtesy of Chase.

BBBS also partners with other local and state non-profit organizations to host various workshops in the community. Check it out!
