Chase Leadership Academy (CLA) gives local high school students the opportunity to learn about job, life and career skills through a special mentoring program at Chase. Chase employees serve as mentors for one school year to help students learn about topics that supplement positive choices after high school. Academy topics include financial literacy, higher education options and job interview skills. Upon successful completion of the Academy, students are awarded a computer courtesy of Chase!
The orientation, application and interview process for the upcoming CLA class has begun. 11th and 12th grade students at the schools listed below are eligible to apply to participate. As space is limited, in addition to the minimum requirements (listed below) all interested students must complete an orientation, application and personal interview to be considered for participation. There are 3 summer orientations and each school will have an orientation by early September. Although students may attend either, summer orientation is recommended. Students only need to attend one orientation and although parent attendance is highly recommended, it is not a requirement. Students will receive application packets during orientation and may schedule interviews once paperwork is complete.
Wednesday, June 27 @ 6 pm
Tuesday, July 17 @ 6 pm
Monday, July 30 @ 6 pm
All Summer Orientations will be held at BBBS, located inside the Family Justice Center, 620 Riverside Dr., Monroe. Preregistration is required. Please contact BBBS @ 318.323.9034 or email@example.com to register.
CLA Minimum Requirements:
*No major incidents in the last school year (fights, expulsion, etc)
*Must be approved by guidance counselor or school administrator (BBBS will obtain approval upon receipt of parent permission/application)
*Ability to commit to attendance requirements- students must attend a minimum of 14 sessions from October-May
Participating Schools: Carroll, Neville, Ouachita, Richwood, West Monroe & Wossman High Schools. There is no charge to participate in CLA.
Transportation is provided from each school to CLA session and back to the school. While most sessions are held on Chase’s campus, there are some offsite sessions.
CLA is a voluntary program, not a paid job or an internship. Students can be removed from the Academy at any time for rule infractions, including failure to participate. Because child safety/well-being and student success are our primary objectives, students may also be removed from the Academy to focus on other areas should an issue be identified (ex. Credit Recovery, major life occurrence).
